“I have suffered from PTSD symptoms associated with early childhood neglect and abuse for most of my life. The most prevalent symptom of this was chronic depression that had gone on for years.  I am a very private person and had tried and failed to get some help through counseling three times but was able to open up much about my childhood trauma. Also, talk therapy by itself did not seem to work with depression symptoms for me because the underlying beliefs that and feelings I had about myself were not addressed. I came to see Alanna Bell at a pretty low point for me. It was getting almost impossible to cope with everyday life and keep working to support my family. Slowly we began working using EMDR techniques and some Hypnotherapy to work on those underlying beliefs and feelings that I had with myself. These beliefs would cause very negative thoughts about myself that would constantly churn in my mind and sleep was the only relief from them. As we worked on the source of each of those beliefs and thoughts through EMDR and Hypnotherapy, they began to lose their power. I was able to counter those thoughts with new beliefs about myself gained through therapy with Alanna.  I am now able to look in the mirror with self love each day. Now instead of worrying if I will be able to continue to work because of my chronic depression and immobilizing thoughts I am in the process of retraining and changing career paths. “Intuitive art is a wonderful way to process and express whatever you are experiencing. Alanna is a wonderful guide for this art, she sets up a creative space designed to help you tap into your inner artist regardless of past artistic experience (or lack thereof). I like Intuitive art also because it gives me a different way to think about things. I write poetry, and sometimes I will finish a painting and realize that it represents the same thing one of my poems does, but I was able to approach the experience and ensuing emotions in a completely new way through painting with Alanna.”   –  Molly
